People and Culture in India
India is a land of varied traditions and culture. This large country comprises of 28 states where each state has its own culture, language or dialects, cuisine, festivals, costume, etc. The lifestyle of people in India changes with the change in geographic location. In general, people of India believe in living their lives to the fullest. No month of the year passes in India without the celebrations of a festival. Holi, Deepawali, Id, Janmasthmi, Chistmas, Dusshera are the major festivals that are celebrated in India with great zeal and enthusiasm. People give gifts and sweets to their friends and relatives on the occasion of these festivals.

Yoga is an ancient science of the coordination and purification of the body and mind to synchronize the human system to its deepest level. Yoga in Sanskrit refers to "yuj" which means ultimate bondage. The basics of yoga truly reflect the merging of human will with the will of God. Yoga has been practiced since ages to secure purity of mind, body and soul and the ultimate goal of yoga lies in the total harmony with the supreme power GOD.

Climate of India
It is not easy to generalize the climate for a vast country like India that extends for thousands of miles in all the four directions. The country experiences different climatic conditions ranging from freezing winters to scorching summers and from tropical coastal areas to damp, rainy states. The whole country has been divided into different climatic zones.
Chalkuria is a small, beautiful village located in the hills of Pauri Garhwal in Uttrakhand. The village lies about 105 km from Kotdwar and is inhabited by Kundaliya Brahmin people. The village was established in the mid-19th century by two brothers (Sh. Markanday and Sh. Shivdutt). The surroundings of the village are very beautiful and serve as a treat for the people away from the hustle and bustle of the cities.
